He has a long distance to cover and promises made to different people to fulfill after reaching home. However, he has several things at hand to perform. He also declares that they are very deep, not only in understanding but also in venturing out. The speaker declares that the woods are very lovely and dark.

The stanza adds further to the partial theme of the seduction of nature. This stanza shows the entry of natural elements into the seduction of the environment of nature, where the poet has almost lost his sense of moving ahead. The speaker hears this sound and surmises that there is another sound which is the sweeping of the wind that is bringing the flake of snow down to the earth. He understands that the horse has made these sounds to signify to his owner that he may have committed the mistake of stopping there. The speaker watches his horse carefully and sees that he shakes the bells. The stanza shows this partial theme and adds further to the main theme of the mundane obligations of the poet. The seduction of nature has the power to pull the speaker toward it. And to top it all, it is the darkest evening of the year. It would be queer for there is no farmhouse nearby and his master stopping by the woods and the frozen lake. Interestingly, he thinks that the horse will take his stop as a queer act. The stanza adds to the partial theme of the seduction of nature. Therefore, he is ruminating over the possibility that the owner might have been unaware of the snow falling and him watching this scene in his woods. It seems that the poet and the owner of the woods are from the same village and that the poet has a chance to stop at his woods before reaching his home. He, however, thinks about him with certainty that he would be unaware of his presence in his woods and that it would be receiving the snowfall at this hour of the night. Then he becomes certain about the person living in his village. The speaker tells about the woods and declares his doubt about the owner, pausing for a moment.
