It goes without saying that the prose was fantastic I used to feel like Sanderson was always on the simplistic side for prose but after this book I can see clearly that he really has a level of complexity to his writing style. Also, before anything else, the fight scenes in this book were probably the most epic I've ever read, and the magic system amplified the enjoyment tenfold. I was told that Mistborn is more or less YA fantasy, so I really wasn’t expecting the super dark themes and gore, but to be honest that made the experience much more realistic and gritty in some ways, so I’m still happy (though I feel that Mistborn doesn’t neccesarily classify as YA fantasy exactly, more of a middle ground between adult and YA).
